JY Guitar Studio
About
I started teaching in 2021, after three decades of playing guitar in bands and just for fun. I teach adults who want to learn to play guitar confidently, in a fun, supportive, and relaxed environment.
Too many adults mistakenly believe that it's too late to learn to play guitar. Are you one of them?
I have good news: it's absolutely possible for you to learn to play, even if you have never played any instrument before, and it doesn't take as much time as you probably think.
In fact, I can have you playing at least one recognizable riff after your first lesson!
You’ll learn to play guitar with music you love – including songs you request – building a repertoire of songs to entertain family and friends as you go.
You’ll master rhythm and changing chords while playing along with artist recordings and backing tracks, making you sound like a guitar hero even when you’re jamming alone!
We’ll go over every new concept together during your lessons, so you’ll never be left to figure things out on your own.
You’ll learn effective practicing, so you can make the best use of whatever time you have available, whether it’s 5 minutes or 25 minutes.
It's not too late; there's no better time to start!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If you're new to guitar playing, I 'll send you my Confident Guitarist Success Guide. That will put you in a good place for our first lesson together.
At that lesson, we'll spend some time talking about why you chose the guitar, your favorite guitar players, bands, and music. I also want to know what goals you have in mind for the guitar - Play songs for yourself for fun and relaxation? Write and produce your own songs? Do you want to play in a band?
If you've been playing any amount of time, even if you've gone through just a few online videos, I'll want to know about the biggest challenge you're having learning the guitar. That way, I can offer you some suggestions to help get you past it or focus your learning so you have a chance to develop the skills you'll need to tackle it.
My goal in all of this is to learn about you as an aspiriing guitar player, so that I can prepare lessons for you, designed to explore the music you love and help you reach your musical goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students are adults who have to balance jobs, families, and school. They want to learn guitar for enjoyment in a supportive, friendly atmosphere.
