About
Hello. My name is Clovis Bordeaux. I would be happy to teach you how to play the piano. Teaching music has been my life for over 40 years, and I have been teaching piano online since 2019. I am always glad to meet new people who have a sincere interest in developing their musical skills. Our lessons will cover repertoire including classics and modern styles, contemporary music theory, and piano technique.
Please feel free to message me any time.
All the best.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My basic rate is $55 per hour, with the following considerations:
- Shorter lesson are pro-rated, i.e., $35 per half-hour
- Books and materials are not included
- Lessons paid monthly in advance receive a 10% discount
- One cancellation is allowed per ten-week session. After that canceled lessons are charged full price.
How did you get started teaching?
As an undergraduate, I talked with fellow students about pieces we were working on. It was an opportunity to share approaches to the repertoire.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught children in the public schools, adults through grants I received from the Illinois Arts Council and the Chicago Office of Fine Arts, and students on the Columbia College and Illinois State University campuses.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am a member of the Chicago Amateur Pianists Guild and the Chicago Piano Meetup. Both of these organizations present recitals which I participate in regularly. My most recent performance there was the Moskowski Etude in G minor which I recorded to present as a birthday tribute to the great pianist and composer Dr. Ra Un Nefer Amen.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to determine if the instructor loves music.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should ask themselves if they are able to be consistent. The goals you have may require a long-term commitment.
