About

My passion for music and performing sparked from childhood, collaborating with my musical family. Much of our time together was spent singing next to Grandma at the piano, picking up an instrument, and learning how it all works. I believe each student learns in a different, unique way, and am committed to discovering what practices and techniques work best for the individual. My goal at each lesson is have a collaborative experience with a positive and productive atmosphere.

A professional performer in the city of Chicago for over a decade, I began teaching 4 years ago after a collegue asked me to take a few of her students. From that experience, I fell in love with the rewards and relationships that grow from teaching both adults and young students. Today, my studio consists of aspiring professionals, students from The Chicago High School for the Arts, and people of all ages who have a love of music outside of their professional field. Currently I offer lessons for a range of vocal levels and techniques, beginning piano, and beginning acoustic guitar.

I hold a Bachelor of Theater Arts from The University of Michigan School of Music, am a member of SAG-AFTRA, and was named 10 best voice lessons in Chicago by Thumbtack for 2016.

Frequently asked questions

I generally prefer to have a brief pre-lesson meeting (at no charge) with a new student where we assess goals, music preferences, previous experience, and possibly select a song to work on at the first lesson. At this meeting I discuss studio policies, payment, and anwer any questions the student may have.

At the first lesson, we start by singing part of an easy, comfortable song, to get an idea of the student's comfort and skill set. Next we move on to warm up, scales, and technique excercises. Lastly, we will spend the remainder of the lesson working through the selected song, applying the technique excersices.
