Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Even before the first lesson we communicate with our students to understand their prior experience and their goals. This allows us to understand where to start so that come the first lesson we come prepared with a personally adapted class. Getting to know our students and presenting them with our curriculum so they too can get to know their class, allows our tutoring and coaching experiences be that much more effecient and enjoyable.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Whether it be looking to pass your next science exam or looking to reduce your mile split time for an upcoming race, all students looking to be the best they can be will find the most success by being transparent and honest with their goals and expectations. When you say exactly what's on your mind, you and your tutor can keep on the same page so that you can find the right match.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Even before looking for a teacher you should keep two questions in mind. The first Question is, "where do i want to be in 2 or 3 years?" This sets both your and your tutors expectations for why you're looking to improve. The second question is "what is the first step I want to take?". This helps you understand that the process of improving doesnt happen in the blink of your eyes and helps your tutor understand how to better help you start in the path you have envisioned.
