We will initially communicate via a phone conversation to develop a schedule and practice that aligns with the student's goals and special needs. How did you get started teaching?
I fell in love yoga within the first few minutes of my first yoga class. After practicing for a few years, I realized that this is a powerful tool to help restore balance, joy and wellbeing and I wanted to share this. I attended teacher training at the Yoga Canter of Minneapolis in 2007 and have been teaching 8-10 classes a week since that time. Practicing and teaching yoga has been a great joy.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who range in age 12 - 80 years old.
Athletes, cardiac and pulmonary patients, cancer survivors, mental health patients, substance abuse patients, those recovering from brain injuries and other health issues.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a young man in my substance abuse class who told me that the yoga classes he attended during his hospital stay were the greatest source of joy and inspiration during a very hard time of his life and that he was planning to continue to practice yoga once he transitioned home to help support his abstinence and overall health. I get tears in my eyes every time of think of this young man or any other student who has struggeled with difficulty and found yoga as a way to support health and happiness.
