About

Since 1974, American Karate has changed the lives of children and families by improving their mental, physical, & emotional intelligence through Martial Arts Cross Training. We have fun too!

We have a great depth of training and skill in a variety of Martial Arts styles such as: Tae Kwon Do, Traditional Karate, Aiki Jiu Jitsu, Sport Karate, Close Quarter Combat, and Kick Boxing. We have combined this knowledge to create an all encompassing Martial Arts cross training style with a Tae Kwon Do basis. For decades, our unique blend of training has changed the lives of hundreds of students—mentally, physically and emotionally.

American Karate is one of the most recognized schools and one of the most awarded teams in tournament competition in Missouri and throughout the Midwest.

Frequently asked questions

We offer classes designed specifically for age and rank. New students will start on Monday or Tuesday's at 5:30 p.m. Whether a free class or an intro program, we make sure the student has proper guidance and instruction to build trust and confidence.

I was in management for 20 yrs. with one company and have been teaching Martial Arts for 25 years in St.Louis and St. Charles. We encourage the children to be strong individuals while developing leadership and team skills. We have a competition team that includes ages 7-15.

Our head instructor for the preschool program for ages 3-6 is Miss Devon with a masters in child development and 4 children of her own.

We have a monthly pricing system for all of our programs. You may register online at Teamamericankarate.com for any of our Intro programs including: Dragons (3-4), Ninjas ( 5-6), Youth Karate ( 7-12) and Teen & Adult.

I was encouraged and influenced by a close Martial Arts friend at a young age. I began training in 1979 with Jung Sim Do Martial Arts and within a year was asked to join an assistant instructor training program.

Since we purchased American Karate over 21 years ago, we have taught students from ages 3- 65, many with special needs such as add, adhd, aspergers, and autism. We have found that each individual has different needs and our job is to recognize those needs and develop trust with each individual.

Last year our students raised over two thousand dollars with an inhouse Karate Tournament for a mother of a fellow student who had been diagnosed with level 4 melanoma.

Make sure that you watch a class first to observe the interaction with the Instructor and students as well as the energy and respect levels!
