Frequently asked questions

I like to meet with you in person for an informal consultation to discuss your goals, current and past fitness routines, previous yoga experience, general health, and answer any questions or address any concerns you may have. Then we set up a date for an initial session based on your goals and area of focus (strength, flexibility, balance, stretching, relaxation) that will introduce you to common yoga poses (asanas), breathwork and alignment.

After working 30+ years as a Retail Store Manager, I decided to turn my beloved yoga practice into my profession. I completed my 200 hour certification in 2017 at Grow Yoga in Galloway, NJ, specializing in Baptiste Yoga. Since then I have expanded my knowledge of other styles of yoga through practice, self-study, workshops and trainings, and have also led students in Yin, Restorative, Creative and Gentle yoga practices both privately and in local studios.

Pricing for sessions vary based on session duration, number of clients, and location, and is discussed during the initial consultation.

I started practicing yoga intermittently more than thirty years ago, primarily for stretching and augmenting a rather intense cardio-heavy workout regimen. In 2016, after noticing that my flexibility was not what it once was, I decided to make yoga my primary fitness routine, and to ease up in the weight training and cardio. Thus began my foray into Baptiste yoga, a powerful practice that fed my need to sweat and move my body, and at the same time provided me with the stretching and inner focus I needed.

I have worked with many types of students~couples, families, small groups, individuals, teenagers through senior citizens, in a studio, in their homes, outside on the patio/deck in the summer, and even via FaceTime.

Recently I worked with a dear friend to facilitate a donation-based yoga class to benefit our local Relay for Life team at a local studio that was very well attended and plan to make it an annual event!

I would recommend a student looking for a yoga teacher to make sure that the teacher is certified and insured, knowledgeable about the body and proper alignment, utilizes effective cueing techniques, and can effectively demonstrate the poses (asanas) which they are teaching. You also want to ensure that the personality and teaching style of the instructor is one that you find comfortable and supportive.

I would certainly think through why you want to study yoga, and share that with the teacher to make sure you are a good fit. There are so many different types of yoga, and some of the postures are very advanced. There is a type of yoga is for every body, and it is a very personal experience. Some people like it for what it does for you physically, some for what it does for you mentally, and others for both of those reasons. And as one of my yoga teachers once said during a class, "allow yourself to get messy, to try new things, to fall out of a pose~it's called a yoga PRACTICE, not yoga perfect."
