Santiago was knowledgeable and engaging when it came to understanding and applying music theory. He also had a lot of patience with me, which was important given my hectic schedule. Would highly recommend to anyone who has been previously intimidated by music theory/reading sheet music like myself.

Santiago is a very patient and kind person. He is very knowledgable about music theory and helped me find discipline in my practice. He has been a pleasure working with him. I would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their skills and enjoy lessons!

Mr. Restrepo is a pleasure to work with. My 8 yr old son has taken lessons with him for over 9 months now. He is a very experienced and responsible instructor. My son was a beginner with no previous background knowledge. With Mr. Restrepo aid and patience now he can play 13 songs. He's currently an intermediate. My son loves working with him. He eagerly awaits his weekly lessons. Without a doubt you or your child will benefit from his expertise. It is an absolute pleasure to reccomend him and write this review.

Santiago is a great teacher! He's very easy-going(patient), and makes me feel relaxed during my piano lessons because he teaches that it's okay to make a mistake because that's how you learn, rather than just getting angry like some other instructors I've had in the past. It's also clear he knows his stuff-he explains music theory and breaks down playing a piece of music in a way that's easy to follow. I definitely recommend!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first step I take when meeting a new student is learning about their history and experience with music. Then, during the first lesson we will play a few simple tunes and do some improv. Gradually, we will dig deeper into the world of music and explore its basic elements.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Santiago Restrepo was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1989. At an early age, he began his studies at the music conservatory,  “Red de escuelas de música de Medellín. His background is in Cello, Music Theory, Orchestra and Choir. In 2008 he began his vocal and piano studies and graduated from Fundación Universitaria Bellas Artes Medellín in 2014 with a degree in Music, specializing in Classical Vocals and Piano.

He has performed as a soloist tenor singer in places such as New York, New Jersey as well as Argentina and throughout his home country, Colombia. He has been teaching music for 10 years. He teaches voice, piano, music theory, guitar and choir.

How did you get started teaching?

I found teaching to be one of my passions in life because it makes me happy when a student finds music inspiring.

I first started teaching in music academies located in Medellin, Colombia where I was born.
