About

I love helping students find their voice on guitar, as a singer, or as both at the same time! I have an extensive background in folk, indie rock, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, and cosmic American music. I'm an accomplished songwriter and acoustic guitarist, but I also have an expert knowledge of electric guitar equipment, effects, and signal chain design. I'm also a producer and recording engineer with a project-based home studio.

    Frequently asked questions

First it is important for me to assess where the student is at, what their goals are, what the challenges have been that got them to this point, and finally how available they are to devote to developing this craft.

I've been a professional musician, performer, and educator for my entire career. I graduated with a degree in Music Studies and Poetry from William Paterson University in 2005.

I charge $45/30 minutes, $65/45 minutes, or $80/60 minute lesson.

I began teaching guitar when I was still in high school and college. My studio grew from word of mouth after that.

I've worked with children through adults. I'm skilled at helping students access their creativity by working past practical roadblocks, often by focusing on ear training, rhythmic precision, and transcription.

I held a monthly residency at the Fox & Crow in Jersey City for one year beginning in 2022 and ending in early 2023. Each show featured a great deal of collaboration, which is my favorite!

Ask a lot of questions, and be as honest as possible with yourself and your instructor about your goals and values as a musician and as a human!
