About

I treat all students and the lessons in a professional manner. This means the lessons and topics covered are well structured and follow a specific plan so that material we worked on in past lessons ais reviewed, reinforced and repeated if necessary. Doing so, helps the students absorb the subject matter, understand it and utilize it in their playing.

I have also studied classical guitar as well as being in a jazz ensemble while in college. The brunt of my knowledge comes from private instruction under a Berklee graduate when I was in my teens. I have a diverse palette for musical styles and listen to everything from Julian Bream, Paco De Lucia to Strunz & Farah to Joe Pass, Pat Martino, SRV and Slayer to KRS One.

The creativity and seeing students develop their original voice on the instrument. Being a part of each students musical journey and artistic development is extremely rewarding.

Very organized. I liked how all his notes and papers where written and prepared beforehand so that the focus during the lessons was on me absorbing the material. He has a balanced style and I liked the fact that Gunther has training in different kinds of music from rock and blues to classical. He stressed the technical aspects of playing so be prepared to get your hands in proper place! I am very pleased with the lessons so far and plan to continue for some time.

I learned to develop my own style. He stressed this in all our lessons. I think this is something you overlook when trying to just play simple cover songs or even licks from different guitarists. I liked how we used the music theory immediately. I was writing songs in keys and learning to solo using my own voice and not just playing random lines or licks from different famous guitarists. I would say definitely take lessons as you have much to gain, especially if you really want to stand out be yourself on guitar.

Solid lessons. I am into shred so we talked about that a lot. He is into the same stuff I am...all those Shrapnel records guys from Greg Howe to Vinnie Moore and MacAlpine. Glad someone still is into neoclassical metal and it is awesome he likes to shred on nylon too.

He is very organized. I like the lessons structure and how everything progresses so it makes sense. We went from open and barre chords to simple scales like the pents to modes...etc. We talked how to put it all together in keys and soloing so it sounds right and not off. I like to learn by doing so we did a ton of exercises like that - me writing stuff in keys and then soloing over the chords and changes. Really good lessons which he breaks down the theory so you can see it working and how to apply stuff yourself.

    Frequently asked questions

A potential student should contact me by email to express interest in lessons and explain their background in guitar if any, their musical goals, preferences and styles as well as schedule.

I have over 30 years playing, both as former music performance major, a private instructor and a giging musician at various clubs and venues in numerous states on the east coast.  My last band had our debut demo released in Europe under a record label and has sold copies throughout the EU, Japan and South America.

Yes I only teach one hour lessons.  All lessons are paid in advance of booking and I accpet a range of payment options from CashApp, Venmo, Zelle to various cryptocurrencies.

I was asked to teach by several people who knew me as a guitarist and wanted to learn.  Essentially word of mouth.  From there I was offered to teach at a local music retail shop in Queens, NY and eventually I gravitated to both online lessons and in person sessions.

All types, males and females ranging from such diverse careers paths as an NYPD detective, high school biology teacher, Jewish Rabbi, criminal attorney, bartender, broadway dance instructor and performer, stripper to numerous college and graduate students, high school and even grade school level students.

When my band's debut was offered a contract with a label in Europe.  It was an analog recording which was digitally re-mastered and released under the record labels exclusive acts.  Since then copies were sold throughout the EU, Japan and South America

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially concerning how the lessons are structured and what you hope to learn and gain.  You should also be prepared to dedicate time to practice and work towards your specific goals.  Remember the teacher can only guide you.

It is important you vebalize your goals and expectations.  You should also be clear about your schedule and practice habits and routines.  Also teachers should be made aware of any difficulties.
