I teach not just the violin but music. I provide context. I teach some music theory and music history. I think it helps to understand what you are playing and where it came from. I have degrees in composition and music theory as well as undergraduate degrees in economics and philosophy.

Also, I really emphasize sound. I think it's so important whether you're learning the violin at 6 or 60. Sound is so magical; it surrounds and stimulates us. You can feel the violin vibrate when you play it!

I love the challenge of figuring out what will help different types of people understand the music and learn the instrument. Teaching both kids and adults is very exciting, but very different and it provides different challenges.
