About this pro

http://www.expressiveartscenter.com

I have taught acoustic guitar since the mid 1970s incorporating theory, strum patterns and note reading.  A student can play  a song within the first lesson and gradually progress.  I teach mountain dulcimer and Native American flute as well. I teach out of a home studio.  I have a Bachelors with concentration in voice and classical guitar, Certified Music Practitioner in Music for Healing & Transition, a M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy, a M.A. in Worship/Ethnomusicology, and completed a certificate in Yoga of the Voice, completed Native American Flute facilitator/teacher training, among other certifications listed on my website.

I love seeing a smile come on the face of my students when they accomplish a skill and are pleased with their new knowledge.  I love knowing that I am passing on the joy of playing a musical instrument that can be in turn shared with others.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

A beginner starts with 1/2 hour private lesson and a review of what they have previously learned if they have taken lessons before, a question/answer period on what they know of basic theory, and an introduction to chords in keys of D, G, A, E, progressing to Keys of C and F, and beyond, and rhythmic strum patterns.  If they are interested in fingerstyle/classical, there will be assignments and explanations on how to play in those.
