Jamie has an unusual talent of enabling our children to rapidly learn guitar. Both our son and daughter developed an extraordinary love for guitar given Jamie's ability to have them evolve from strumming to playing full songs. Jamie has great patience, which is important for children. He communicates clearly with his students and is outcomes-based. Thank you Jamie!

I have taken lessons for many many years from many instructors. I learned that just because you can play does not mean that your can teach. Jamie, however, is the best of both. He has great insights based on his deep experience and he has the expertise to know how how to improve your playing. He is thoroughly professional and applies his years of experience to patiently help you improve. Best of all, he explains things simply so you can understand and play better immediately!

Jaime is not only an experienced jazz musician, but also know different genres of music very well. He is able to point out the weakness of a student and makes he/ she improves. His teaching approach is to start out simple, step by step, so the student will fully understand and grasp the materials. He is a responsible person who barely cancels or changes the lesson time and tracking on student’s process. He is patient and understanding person.

Jamie is a deeply knowledgeable and careful teacher. He is steeped in the jazz tradition but knows and plays many styles. I felt I could bring interest in anything and learn from him about it.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I find out what kind of music and styles the student is interested in. I also emphasize understanding how the guitar and music works so the student has the tools to explore on her/his own.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been a professional guitarist for over 30 years and have taught students of all ages for about that long.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $80 and hour for lessons at my home and $100 to travel to a student's home. However I can be flexible in pricing if that doesn't meet your budget.

How did you get started teaching?

Teaching was a natural outgrowth of playing after a certain amount of study and experience. I was initially asked for lessons by individuals and it felt like a natural outgrowth of my musical life.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've taught students from age 6 to adults.
