He was very professional and set up a course to suit my needs! I loved his input with songwriting and anything creative but I could also come to him with things like, learning how to read sheet music, music theory and the classical music side of performance too!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I typically assess what musical training a student has had before coming to me for lessons, as well as, their intentions with learning music: why they want to learn, who inspires them, what kind of music inspires them, what their lifelong goals are with music, etc.

From there we can create a personal plan for a student to achieve the goals they intended to when getting into music. I will give them the tools they need to do what they please.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

BA in music performance

MA in music composition

Pro Tools: I have a comfortable grasp on the program; I’ve recorded and produced all of what I do in Pro Tools.

Sibelius: All music notation I do is through Sibelius, I am at a comfortable level with this program.

Live Sound/Recording: Setting up, tearing down microphones, linking up sound boards for live shows.

Teaching Artist: 2 years in undergrad teaching classical guitar to urban youth in an afterschool program known as Artsbridge.

Classical Music Discipline: classical music performance training has given me intense discipline and attention to detail combined with strong work ethic and independently driven leadership.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would want them to expect that I will respect their goals and do my best to cater to what they need to learn to do what they want to do with music.
