About
My service stands out because I have successfully taught people who previously failed with other teachers. For example, my plumber came to fix a leak while I was finishing up a lesson. I asked him if he ever thought of playing guitar. He said he actually took guitar lessons from two teachers but he failed. He quit and he decided guitar wasn't a thing he could do. So I said take some lessons with me. I'll give you a free lesson right now. He took the lesson and he came back for many more and he got really good. He could play many complicated songs and solos too. So the teacher really does make a big difference.
The reason I love to teach guitar is that I get to do 2 of my favorite things all day: play guitar and teach. I have always loved teaching. I used to teach math and finance in company training programs when I did white collar work. I taught many people how to swim. I taught my brother to play guitar when I was 16 and he was 13. I taught my daughter how to add and subtract and read and write at 4, and I taught the the 12 X 12 table when she was 5, before she entered kindergarten. So I always love to teach, and what could be more fun than teaching guitar?

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I have a new student who is a beginner, I give the beginner lesson. I teach them how to form a few chords and then teach them a song using those chords. If they have played before, I quickly assess the level they are at and use their prior experience as a starting point on which to build upon and expand. For example, if they already know chords and rhythyms and songs, I would teach them scales and improvising, and then specific solos.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied classical piano at ages 7 and 8. I played trombone in the school orchestra and marching band from 9 -12. I have been playing guitar since I was 12 and played in rock bands from 12 1/2 to the present. Regarding education, I have an MBA in finance from Fordham University.
