About

Violinist Greta Myatieva was born in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. Greta is an active chamber musician and has served first violin in summer quartet residency at Music in the Vineyards in Napa Valley, as well as a fellowship at Banff Center for Arts and Creativity. Her recent engagements include a CD release of Florence Price works with the Fermata Ensemble. Greta has served as guest artist at the Keuka Lake Festival and additionally she has performed in the violin sections of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival, Odyssey Opera, Phoenix, and New World Symphony in Miami. Greta is a winner of the 2017/2018 NEC Honors Ensemble Competition with her quartet. She received her degree from New England Conservatory.

While my performing career shapes me as an artist, teaching my students is where my passion lies.

I believe that working with students is extremely vital and important work, as it entirely shapes their creativity, productivity, and ultimate well being and success in the world. Ms. Greta is wonderful, she teaches an unimaginable amount of material in each session, and being her student is great. I love violin, she keeps motivating me by teaching me new techniques and music.

Greta is a wonderful teacher with so much experience both teaching students and with playing and performing. She is responsible and diligent in whatever she pursues and uses a balance of positive reinforcement and critique to lift her students and colleagues up while helping them to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. Being someone who has known Greta for many many years and has played in a string quartet with her, I would highly recommend studying with her!

Greta has been my teacher for the past two years. She is very passionate about teaching music and has been an excellent teacher. I had no prior knowledge about playing the violin, reading or writing music. She taught me right from the basics and has been very patient as I gradually learnt my way to reading and writing music and finally playing it on the violin. I love her method of teaching as she finds different ways to explain the techniques and the ways one can improve continuously. She has a very friendly personality and brings a very positive attitude to the class. She is also very accommodative of class timings. It has been a pleasure learning from her and I would highly recommend her!
