About
I teach a variety of instruments including voice, piano, electric and acoustic guitar, ukelele and accordion. I teach ages 6 and up and all styles including pop, classical, jazz, rock, country, and musical theater. Lessons take place in my state of the art studio featuring state of the art recording equipment, microphones, keyboards and guitars. I can also offer lessons in your home for a more traditional lesson.
I was educated at SUNY Potsdam Crane School Of Music, Orange Coast College and the Dick Grove School Of Music. I have been teaching 25 years and offer an energetic, motivating style of lesson.
I like to provide practice tracks via MP3's from the recording studio so students can sing or play along using their favorite medium for listening. This can be the student's computer, ipad, iphone or I can provide a good old-fashioned CD!
The best part about my job is getting to be involved with music everyday. When I am playing a song with my students everybody is smiling! There is no pressure to be in the Innovative Music recital but I love seeing my students get up on stage and perform their songs.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Generally I just ask the student what their goals are and I tell them how I think I can help. We get right to work singing songs, playing the piano/guitar, recording, making practice tracks. In many cases we are working from music books and sheet music and in some cases we are just singing and playing by ear. It is all about fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to SUNY Potsdam (Crane Music School) and received classical training in voice and piano. I then transferred to Orange Coast College and the Dick Grove School Of Music and studied guitar, songwriting in pop/jazz styles. I then continued working at the Grove School as a piano accompanist in the vocal program. I developed a course "Vocal Harmony and Improvisation" for the school and taught it over the next 3 years. I then became a piano/guitar player entertaining on Princess Cruise Lines for one year. Since then I have continued to teach in North Syracuse, NY at my current school, Innovative Music Instruction.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is simple. The 1st lesson is free. It is $27.50 per half hour and most students pay monthly ($110 for 4 lessons) to secure the same time slot every week. This keeps lessons consistent and growth consistent. Some students just book time as they need it. Some will come in when they have important auditions and book a couple hours.
