Welcome! My name is Brian Tuning and I have 30years of music experience in which 21 of those years I have spent as a guitar/piano instructor. I have been professionally trained in Classical, Jazz and Blues. However, my personal preference is hard rock and melodic metal. I went to school for music performance in guitar mastery and minor in piano.
I do read notation, tablature and have a very good understanding of Music Theory. I gear my lessons according to what the student is interested in learning. Whether that be songs to jam to or shredding along with your favorite jams.
I have been nominated awards of one of the top guitarists in NY, although I have recently moved to CA. I have SAMMY awards for best performing artist and best hard rock band as well.
I am very personable, great sense of humor and teach students starting at age 4 years old.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Reviewing/asking about background. What genre and style they enjoy or would like to learn. I make it a very enjoyable learning process where not only is it fun but the student is constantly engaged in the work. Also, I get a bit more creative in having my students involve techniques using left and right hand exercises for precise accuracy when playing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a total of 10 years of professional schooling/classes. As well as a grand total of 21 years of taking, teaching lessons and learning for myself. This would include ear training, guitar/piano lessons, fretboard harmony, music theory and much more.
