About
As a performer I have had extensive experience as soloist, concerto soloist, chamber music ensemblist and accompanist in the northeast USA and most particularly in CNY. I earned the Bachelors' (full scholarship; magna cum laude) and Masters' degrees in piano performance from Syracuse University's School of Music. Also a passionate teacher, I have held positions at O.C.C. , L'Ecole d'Hindemith in Vevey, Switzerland; Colgate University (20 years as Teacher of Piano); and LeMoyne College. Private teaching is very fulfilling to me, and students are offered many opportunities for performance - some as community service events - and ensemble connections with other students. As an active member of CNY Association of Music Teachers there are competitions and scholarship grants for summer music camps. I have received awards from Civic Morning Musicals as Outstanding Pianist of the Year; a SAMMY award (2017) for Outstanding Music Education - Lifetime Achievement, etc.
My students continue to win scholarships and awards. I also help a few dedicated adults who pursue piano studies for the love of it.
Interracting on a one-to-one basis, and seeing continuing progress in piano skills, understanding the nature and meaning of music, curiousity and enthusiasm from my students is a daily inspiration! I've loved teaching since age 21 when my first student came into my little studio. Now I've been teaching for over 60 years and still find each student interesting and delightful. I've been VERY fortunate to have worked with many outstanding talents, many of whom have made successful careers in music, and others who have continued to enjoy playing as a serious avocation.
