About

I live in NEW YORK. If you want IN PERSON LESSONS AND LIVE IN NEW JERSEY DO NOT CONTACT ME UNLESS YOU WANT TO COME TO NYC.

I enjoy helping people enjoy learning the guitar. I custom Taylor the lessons to their needs.

I do specialize in teaching how to understand the guitar neck with regards to improvising and harmony ( chords) on the guitar. But I can help people with almost anything ( except maybe heavy duty classical guitar)

I really enjoy helping people improve. I feel after all this time teaching I have lots of great techniques for learning that would help a beginner all the way up to advanced students.Plus I'm patient and don't ever make the student feel awkward or nervous. I just try and work though whatever we're doing in a relaxed manner so they can learn and really benefit as much as possible.

I have studied with Nat for over a decade at this point. Within music education, a teacher like Nat Janoff is an absolute rarity, and it is an blessing that I stumbled upon his business card so many years ago.
Nats ability to connect with students and focus on developing their own unique sound is unmatched. He allowed me to work on what I wanted to, while also showing me various paths one can visit within music; leaving me inspired to continue playing throughout the years.
I truly believe Nat has given me on guitar is far greater than years of study at any University. Ive watched my skills and knowledge surpass graduating music students. Private lessons are the best way to advance on guitar, and there is no better teacher than Nat.
Teaching aside, Nats positive personality is an absolute asset within his lessons. I can truly say with over a decade of lessons Ive always left each and every lesson feeling better than when I went in. I cant emphasize how important that is while learning an instrument.
Nat Janoff triumphs as an incredible guitar player, teacher and person, and I couldnt recommend anyone more! I am forever grateful for having such an incredible guitar teacher.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to find out what people are interested in. What their concerns are and I could help them have a great experience.

I've been teaching privately for 31 years. I went to William Paterson University and have degree in Jazz Performance from there. However I have done almost every kind of gig. I love Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Soul etc...I can help a student with almost anything really.

    30 min 40

    60 min $80

I started because my dad encouraged me. He said you know why don't you teach. You don't need a store etc....so in back in 1989 I had my first student. A kid who lived across the street.

I work with all kinds of students. All ages and levels of experience. As long as can work together that's all that matters.

I had a student tell me that he worked through a program that I created for him. It was TONS of work! But he did it!! I was REALLY impressed!

Just be open to doing some work and you'll make progress!!
