I've been an active pro musician and teacher since 1970. I tailor all music lessons to the individual student. Services include transcribing songs/solos for students. Also I have a degree in music (BA from UCLA) and I incorporate as much music theory into lessons as possible. Since guitar playing deals largely with shapes and patterns I do not stress note-reading as much as tab along with scale and chord shapes. I love sharing music of almost all styles. My studio expertise includes lead and rhythm playing on acoustic and electric guitar. Styles include country, rock, bluegrass, Americana and folk. I work with a lot of songwriters and can help a lot with chord vocabulary and the number system.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Determine the level of the student by playing a little with them. Talk about their goals. Set up an individual program incorporating songs the wish to learn along with some prepared materials I have. And have fun playing!
