Sam’s Studio

About

Not company owned or operated, I stand to provide music education at exactly what that means - teaching music. Not just notes or rhythm, but the true meaning behind music. Although I have trained classically for over 16 years and am well versed in reading music and the like, i’ve learned to put far more emphasis on not only reading music, but playing as it was intended. This is a knowledge I intend to pass down to my students.

Music is it’s own reward. Through setting a goal (learning a song you love) and then taking steps to reach that goal, you are constantly rewarded as you see your progression toward greatness. Once you reach your goal, you can share your work with others around you and spread joy and happiness through the beautiful music you create. This is why i love music so much.

Frequently asked questions

Assess what level they are at: can they read music, do they have control over their hands, etc.  From there, i decide which pattern of lessons will expediate their learning process toward their specific goal.

I have been taking personal piano lessons since i was 5 years old, and am now studying piano performance at the Univesity of Texas at Austin.

20 dollars per hour lesson.

A program at my school introduced me to working with beginners, and since then I have felt a passion for helping people who are interested in music grow.

All kinds, from those who don’t know anything about music notation to those who need help phrasing a difficult passage of an etude.

Giving a solo piano performance at one of my volunteer orchestra’s recitals, simply because the conductor felt she should showcase my playing ability.

Find a teacher who will suit your needs. Not all instructors will be receptive to different approaches at learning as I am. So no matter who you  decide on, be sure they can further your musical intentions.

What do you look to gain from music? Technical proficiency or thorough understanding? There are teachers who will be able to take your technical ability to new heights, and then there are those who will emphasize the musicality of the notes you are playing. Decide what is more important to you, and then the instructor can help further your path.
