I take violin lessons from Connie for about 2 months via Skype. At first I was very skeptical about how effective Skype lessons would be for a mostly beginner player. But Ive been surprised at how well its worked out. Connie gives very candid critiques, and doesnt hesitate to call me out for poor intonation or poor form. Which is exactly why I wanted a teacher in the first place. I know I could use YouTube to learn, but I like to have feedback from an expert who is going to correct me when Im doing something wrong. She provides a good balance of music theory with technique exercises, and playing pieces that Im interested in. Im a slow note reader, so I like her technique of playing a measure, and then I play a measure until I get the hang of the melody. I still would prefer to have lessons in person with someone, but based on the pandemic it hasnt been an option, the Skype option has worked out well for me so far.
