About
My name is Joshua, and I'm an alumni of Berklee College of Music based in Boston, MA. My focus is Professional Music with concentrations in Songwriting and Contemporary Writing & Production. I teach guitar, music production (Logic Pro X, Garageband, Ableton), songwriting, harmony, and other music topics (just ask!).
My approach to teaching music is fluid, adaptive, and designed according to each student's unique strengths and needs. My teaching pace is entirely dependent on what the student needs, whether one prefers to take it slow or dive right into complex music topics - it is up to you!
My lessons require mutual trust and communication. My methods and approach is very dependent on this, as I expect each of my students to leave my lessons with a very personal appreciation for music & their instrument of choice. I exist as a teacher to help you discover YOUR passion for music at YOUR pace, not my own. Please, if you have any questions reach out!
I love to see a student apply concepts that I've taught them. Teaching them a concept is one thing and understanding is a another thing, but applying concepts and making them your own takes the cake!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to get to know my student a little to gain an understand of their experience, strengths, and preffered method of learning. This is always important to know so that you get most personal learning experience!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Berklee College of Music Alumni
How did you get started teaching?
I started with working as a Child Youth Program Assistant with children aged from infants to 10 years old. After this job, I attended Berklee College of Music where I honed my craft and began teaching friends and family, and eventually fell in love with teaching others!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that best appeals to your needs! Not every teacher offers the same things - some have rigerous programs and structure, others are more lenient and understanding of a student's pace. Communicate, ask questions, and choose the teacher that seems like the best fit for you.
