Black Tower Music
About
I've been playing guitar since 1993. I have a degree in guitar performance. I've been teaching guitar since May of 2008. I love seeing people's understanding of music grow and seeing how their study of music helps them overcome obstacles in other areas of their lives.
Sharing the joy of music with others and the constant challenge of figuring out how to beat teach to each student.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Figuring out where the student is at musically so that I can build a lesson play to suit the student.

I have a degree in Contemporary Music Performance.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 for 1/2 hour.
$75 for 1 hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I advertised on Craigslist initially until I built up a student base.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children all the way to elderly, at all sorts of stages musically.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The last event I went to was years ago due to the Pandemic.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who can easily break things down into simple language. Teaching isn't playing. Knowledge and ability to efficiently communicate are more important than ability to play fast.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals in learning the instrument?
There will be a moment when it will come to a choice to commit to practice regularly, or to treat it like a thing to pass the time.
Do I want to work hard at this? Because it is hard work and sometimes very frustrating.
