Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Finding out their goals and finding their comfort zone so we can break that barrier. Most of all, I want my students to find the power within that they don't know about.... yet.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a yellow belt in Taekwondo when I was 5 before my mother couldn't afford it, then up until the age of 13 I was taught kickboxing, wing chun and jeet kune do by various people until I was put into Kempo which focused mostly on Gung Fu and white tiger Chan Fa which I earned my purple belt after 3 years and almost got my green belt until the studio was closed down and bought out so I decided to start doing boxing and kickboxing at various gyms while learning from other people along the way until I got into MMA at the age of 19 and trained there for 2 years and I've never stopped training. I'm 22 now and looking to get into another gym to get ready for an amateur fight.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20/hour in mountlake terrace, Edmonds and Lynnwood.
$30/hour in shoreline, Kenmore, North seattle, Bothell and Everett.
$45/hour in Bellevue, South Seattle, west Seattle and Renton.
How did you get started teaching?
Practice and studying for over a decade while starting from helping people lose weight and build muscle at the age of 17.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
teaching student sfrom Bush high school Boxing and getting them ready for sparring along with the youth class at Cappy's Boxing Gym in Seattle.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be patient with yourself but don't let that stop you from pushing yourself. Listen more and talk less because your teachers started from somewhere just like you are. Never talk down to yourself while training for you may already have enough negativity around you, because a small flame could light up the darkest room. Your mind is the general and the body is the troops so although it's usually mind over matter, they both go hand in hand so get your head in the game and earn your stripes.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should feel more than comfortable asking questions to their instructor so i would say don't worry about asking a dumb question because you need to learn one way or another. All students are different and progress differently.
