Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always try to meet the new student exactly where they are in the practice - building step by step towards understanding and mastery. As a new student, you will have a short self-assessment that will help me to better understand your body, mind, and goals you have for your practice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors of Science in Human Nutrition, Major in Public Health
Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (taught over 200 classes in my first year as an instructor)
Currently studying with Yoga Therapy International in Vancouver, BC and Chennai, India -->
Soon to be 1000-hour International Associate of Yoga Therapists accredited Yoga Therapist
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I do. All information for pricing can also be found at YogaPDX.com. I offer a sliding scale for those in need.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching after practicing yoga for almost 10 years. I found that I wanted to deepen my own practice, and at the same time I knew that I needed to bring the benefits of a healthy yoga practice to others. I took a huge leap of faith, and haven't looked back - I have a passion for connecting and sharing with people from all walks of life. I love the way that yoga creates a community out of strangers, and I feel driven to build my business in the best ethics possible.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from 15-70 years old. Students have ranged in physical ability, level of practice, and personalities! Some of the conditions I have worked with are: anxiety, depression, rage, scoliosis, knee injury, spinal injury, hyper and hypotension, and more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Studying under great teachers in the summer of 2017, such as Maggie Reagh, Neil Pearson, Bernie Clark, Nicole Marcia, Tianne Allen, and Danille Schroeder
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that you feel safe and comfortable learning from. Don't ever let a teacher tell you how to feel, and look up their training programs and background! Not all yoga trainings are well-rounded, well taught, or informed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are you goals for the practice? What feels good in the body and what doesn't feel good in the body?
