About this pro

I serve the yoga community in south Orange County by teaching classes at Lotus 7 Yoga & Pilates Studio in Rancho Santa Margarita, Be the Change Yoga Studio in Irvine, as the corporate yoga instructor at Cox Communications in Lake Forest and with private clients. I have studied and practiced extensively for 20+ years. Yoga has positively impacted my life to such a degree I felt a strong calling to become a teacher and help others. My teaching journey began in 2010 right after I lost both parents and my sister to common diseases like cancer, heart failure and Alzheimer's.  I set aside a successful career as a marketing executive at a global corporation so that I could focus on family, community, health and wellness. I have been volunteering for 14 years and teaching yoga for 8. I am driven to be part of the solution to the devastating and sometimes avoidable conditions that plague us. I believe stress is at the root of the problem and many of the unhealthy lifestyle choices we make are related to self-medicating the discomfort of stress - real, perceived, past and current. I have three children with my husband Josh and they are my world. I adore my students and will do all I can to help them find peace, joy and great health.

I enjoy witnessing the transformations that happen when my students finally "get it." They learn to make their health a high and uncompromising priority, they soften the edges of their negative conditioning and just become more chilled-out content humans. Yoga is a gift. The right yoga is a tremendous and priceless gift. Nothing else is so effective. I adore helping people feel better.

Loved my introduction to yoga. Julie was able to precisely describe each formation and took time to make sure I adequately followed her instructions. Looking forward to the next session.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to text or speak on the phone with potential students to be sure we are a good match. Then we schedule an initial class or consultation. If that goes well we set up a regular day, time and place or practice with a flexible agreement.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher (highest level designation)with with 8 years and over 2,500 hours of professional teaching experience. Credentials can be confirmed at yogaalliance.org

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $75 per class that is 60 minutes long. $125 for a 90 minute class. I charge extra for driving further.

How did you get started teaching?

I practiced for 10 years and realized the huge impact it had on my health. I decided that I owed it to the practice to help spread the word. Now after 20 years of yoga I am very passionate about getting absolutely everyone on the mat!

What types of students have you worked with?

All levels and abilities are welcome and there IS a yoga that is just right for you!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Listen to your gut instincts and if you don’t feel perfectly safe and trusting of that person, walk away. If someone claims they can heal you, run away. Check their credentials with Yoga Alliance and get references. When you look into a yoga teachers eyes you should feel like family.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Ask about their training and experience, then look them up with Yoga Alliance. Ask for several references.
