Karen Castle (Owner) was considered one of Hollywood's top stunt women for over 10 years. She's had a very successful career as a Hollywood Stuntwoman specializing in heights and circus related stunts. She was the personal stunt double for Jane Fonda, Kirstie Alley and many others. Karen is the only woman in history to be on the very top of one of the Golden Gate Bridge upright stanchions where she did a stunt at 746 ft. high for the James Bond movie "A View To A Kill". She has also performed one of the highest high falls into a net. It was from a helicopter 90 ft. high. All high falls from this height land in stunt airbags. She was nominated for best fight sequence for the first annual Taurus Stunt Awards. She was also recognized by being inducted into the World Acrobatics Society's Hall of Legends for her success and achievements as a professional acrobat. These are just a few of her remarkable achievements. In addition to her career as a professional circus performer Karen has been recognized as one the world’s top aerial and acro-pyramid trainers. She has a passion for teaching and a gift for helping others realize their full potential.

How did you get started teaching?
I have always loved teaching both adults and children. I connect well with people. I was performing for 30 years and eventually had to pull myself out of our shows given knee injuries. As much as I loved performing, I learned that teaching is such a great fit for me. Our studio is mainly adults. But we also have this wonderful and very popular kids class called "AcroBrats". Part of my dream for my students is to offer fun performance opportunities to adults who have always wanted to perform in one way or another but already have their careers set. I have had ladies that are lawyers, nurses, doctors vetinarian and hair dressers perform in our show after a year of training. Some had no background in any sport when they started! My teacher are chosen very carefully. They have experience in both ground and aerial acroatics and I have trained them in my special stretching techniques that are gentle and therefore effective. They are also my professional performers for our professional troupe the "American Acrobats". ( http://www.americanacrobats.com/ ) All my teachers are also very warm, laid back and friendly. Therefore the atmosphere in our sudio is very welcoming. :)
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with the very beginner who wants to start exercising for the first time and was never involved with any sports - all the way up to the professional performers in the circus acrobatic industry. No! You do not need to already be flexible or able to do a pullup! That is what we are here for!! Most of our students are beginner and Intermediate. Our trainers are qualified to help the very beginner ( gently at first ) to the professional performer that needs to get ready for auditions. For those looking to be "Pro", we can choreograph routines for upcoming auditions. I took a dancer, turned her into an aerialist and now she works for Cirque Du Soliel. Out top trainer, Courtney Pratt ( also top performer for the American Acrobats ) is currently helping a singer/aerialist choreograph a routine for an audition on a cruise ship line.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I would have to say that our student road shows are a blast. These are oppotunities for any students to show off their skills. many of our shows like fesivals and art shows are open to our beginners as long as they have a few tricks.
But probably the most exciting show is our yearly Student showcase. This includes al adults and children interested!!! We have the most beautiful costumes, lighting and music. :) These will be fun memories.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Contact us and let us know exactly what your needs and desires are. Please know that our focus is always on you and what you desire. And don't be afraid to mention that you like the idea of performing even though you might be the "very beginner" and not in shape yet. If we know you like that idea- we will take you in the direction. On the other hand, if you just want to get in shape and get more flexibility ( safely ) we can take you in that direction too.
For those that want to become professional performers, share every desire with us. We are here to meet your needs! :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Let us know if you have any pre-existing injuries and if your doctor told you to focus on certain types of strengthening or stretching exercises. We can implement those. And we can avoid what needs to be avoided. On your first class with us, we will take a look at any weak or tight muscle groups around your entire body and give you easy quick ways to resolve them at home and work.
