About

My teaching approach: I take great pride and joy in teaching and playing guitar. Through my own 20+ years of playing I've developed my own style of teaching that is geared towards starting students off playing the songs they want 1st lesson. I aim to get my students playing well in the shortest amount of time possible. I am very patient and believe in making guitar lessons fun and productive for every student. My influences are: Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Led Zeppelin, were the bands the got me into playing guitar. I'd say almost every band I grew up with to current bands are all somewhat influential. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: Contact me for more information. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Everyone learns at a different pace. I really enjoy teaching new material, but not until the material covered is well understood. Learning songs that you enjoy is what it's all about, although I might recommend some that are at your level and still fun to play. The sooner we get the basics covered such as chords and a scale or two the sooner we will take on more advanced songs. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: The first couple lessons we will go over very basic music theory. I make music theory very easy to understand, as easy as (do, re, mi) which most everyone learned/heard as children. We'll then begin to learn chords and scales. By the first or second lesson I will try to have you playing a basic song riff or two. Lessons are customized to what you want to learn, your desired goals, and most importantly how much practice time you can put in. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: The ideal guitar student is one who sincerely wants to get good at the instrument and is willing and dedicated to practice at least a half hour to an hour a day. Guitar lessons with the greatest guitar player/teacher in the world won't make you a good player if you don't make time to practice.

Music serves many functions in life. It's fun, it exercises the brain, it allows for creative expression, it helps unite people, and many more potential functions. Teaching and playing music is not work, it's a joy. Even after many years it doesn't get old. Each student is a new experience and a unique journey as we find ways to learn new things and the best ways to approach them.
