A year ago in August, I gave myself a fabulous 66th birthday present – singing lessons with Vickie Russell. A very big risk given I stopped singing at 11 years old.

Vickie immediately understood how much was involved with this gift to the self.

She treated me as a serious student, one who needed step-by-step instructions, building my strength and ability to succeed with each lesson. Nothing I did to sabotage my singing threw her. With compassion, Vickie identified where I got stuck and kept me singing. Teaching me about the voice, how to develop my vocal chords (by practicing) and challenging me to sing songs that develop my range. OK, she even got me to do a recital with her other students!

Vickie gives spot on feedback to my aspiring singer. She recognizes my child’s abilities and steers her in appropriate directions. My daughter’s voice has grown and matured under Vickie’s expert tutelage.

Vickie has been amazing as a teacher to our whole family. She can tailor her approach to adults and children, and manages to adjust her teaching on the fly to adapt to what her students need the most from her. For our family, she helped a (shy) adult with speaking and singing, an 8-10 year old gain understanding and amazing progress in piano, and helped a reluctant 7 year old to embrace guitar. She excels at online lessons as well as in person. She is firm but kind to her students. We highly recommend her!!! She is a true expert in her field and we feel very lucky that she shares her skills with us.

She is a wonderful piano teacher who understood my goals and formulated a program to reach them.
