About

Lessons with me will be work and goal oriented based. I will give the student to the best of my ability the resources and knowledge they need every week. This includes personally written plans given to each student, videos (if requested) of me playing and explaining the matierial they are working on, and all the knowledge I know about any subject they ask me about related to their instrument and genres. There are no secrets with me as a teacher. Clear and concise communication every week.

The satisfaction of the type of work I do is seeing the individualized passion that every one of my students bring each week. The students eagerness to learn about their instrument and about the music we are learning together is very satisfying.

I had never played guitar before but Alex was an amazing first teacher, even virtually over Zoom. He was very patient and encouraging and he had a long list of great beginner songs to learn. He always works with you and tailors the lesson to be what you want it to be, not just his own agenda. Super great, highly recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

First thing I need to do is understand as much as I can about the students guitar abilities including strengths and weaknesses and the students musical goals as a musician and guitar player. Once this is done I come up with a detailed individualized plan to achieve both their goals and the skills they need to be well developed and competent guitar players.

I have taught guitar both privately and at local music lesson shop and record store JnB music in Joliet Illinois for well over a year. This all happening while working on obtaining my Bachelors degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have been in the music scene for well over a year playing genres like Jazz, Rock n Roll, Funk, and Indie/Pop. Although my immediate genre is Jazz

The price will vary depending on the length of the lesson but typically it is Twenty five dollars for thirty minute lessons, Thirty five dollars for fourty five minute lessons, and fourty five dollars for hour long lessons. I will suggest the length of the lessons students should take based on their personalized goals and guitar skills.

At first, when I realized I wanted to teach lessons I reached out to my social media one summer and offered free lessons. Once I figured out how to be a good teacher who can explain various concepts in simplistic ways I applied to local music stores. Eventually I found one and had over twenty students every week. I unfortately had to relocate because of school but am now ready to build my student numbers back up again.

My old students were typically beginners who were young but I have worked with all ages ranging from 5-70 years old. Each one with their own individualized plans I made for them to get them were they need to be.

The Highland Park Jazz Festival was an event I attended in September of 2022. This was a great experience to be able to see a lot of the local Jazz legends and risers of Chicago.

Schedule a meeting with them. It helps a lot to decide if the teacher is right for you if you have a one on one conversation with them and ask them about their teaching methods. Any potential student of mine can message me to schedule zoom meetings and Fifeteen minute trial lessons(free!).

Every student should consider whether or not lessons are worth their time. This may seem counterintuitive but I have taught a number of students who simply do not have the passion to play guitar. Every student should ask themselves the following questions. How long do I see myself playing guitar? Am I ready to take time out of my day almost every day to practice? Do I know for certain that I want to take the time, money, and effort to improve my guitar skills?
