About

I started Pure Muay Thai in March 2018. I began training Muay Thai in 2005. Since then I spent multiple years at gyms in the Chicagoland area. I have learned from Thai boxing legends from all over the world including Saenchai, Gregory Choplin, Lerdsilla, Damien Trainor, and Attachai. I have competed at the amatuer level. I decided to start my own Thai boxing gym because I am passionate about the sport. I've trained in Thailand and wanted to have that style of training here. At Pure Muay Thai we teach traditional Thai Boxing. Find us on Facebook, IG, and online at puremuaythai.com.

Great instructors. They’re great with kids! My kids absolutely love their classes. They are not only patient with them but they make them excited to be there. Highly recommend them!

Pure Muay Thai is a welcoming, motivating, training family. It’s more than a gym. It’s more than a class. Greg takes the time to teach you about the sport. He doesn’t just train you so you “get a good workout in” (but you’re sore in places you didn’t know could be sore) he ensures that you appreciate Muay Thai for the sport and the craft that it is. I have been an athlete my entire life. I’ve competed nationally in gymnastics (went to the junior Olympics), dance (on a professional dance company and dance team), soccer, cheerleading... so I gravitate towards training to learn and better myself physically though a sport. I can’t just go to the gym and lift or run. I need to challenge myself physically and mentally- See the progress in developing as an athlete in a sport. Greg has accomplished that at Pure. We train together. We learn together. He knows how we need to learn individually and as a team.
I’m in love with the sport of muay Thai boxing and it’s because of the culture created at Pure.

Having no prior Muay Thai experience I really appreciated Greg breaking things down to make it easier to learn.

Greg is great at demonstrating and explaining body positioning to kids new to Muay Thai and getting them excited about learning. The flag game is a definite favorite.

Took my 8yr old daughter to one of the kids classes. She absolutely loved it! It was a small class and there were 2 instructors who really paid attention to the kids, giving them the attention they needed. Class was fun and lively, perfect pace for kids. She can’t wait to go back!

My kids are currently taking lessons and love it!! Greg works very well with kids, he gives good direction, able to keep kids interested and engaged for a full 45 minutes. The energy of the gym is good too! Price is affordable and good times for my family’s needs.

    Frequently asked questions

Every new student will learn basic stance and footwork for Muay Thai. From their they will be progressed at a pace that is appropriate for them.

I have trained Muay Thai since 2005. I studied under 3 different trainers in the Chicagoland area. I have trained in Thailand on numerous occasions and plan to return every year. I have competed at the amateur level. I am also a licensed physical therapist specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine.

First group class is free. I have drop in rates or monthly rates available. I also do private sessions, but encourage the group classes since they are small and we focus on detail. Please contact me for rates. Kids classes are also available.

I have a passion for teaching. I focus on details that are overlooked by others. I am continue to take seminars when they are available and share what I have learned with my students. I continue to reasearch and comprare styles to develop the best method for each of my students.

I work with children to adults with all different goals. Some want to compete while most want to learn something new and get a great workout.

I love to watch all combat sports, but I love to watch Thai boxing events.

Make sure you are looking for an instructor who is passionate about the sport. Someone who is willing to give you the support you need. A good instructor will teach you. They will focus on the improtant details.
