About

I am able to teach children's yoga and mindfulness to young tots through middle school. However, I am also a clinical social worker with an extensive background working with children. Marrying my clinical knowledge and yoga certification allows me to bring my skills to many settings with children. I will travel to schools, day cares, birthday parties, scout meetings, youth groups, etc. I love to use props, music, and games to make class fun and inviting.

I love watching the children learn new skills that often times, aren't learned until later in life. They gain confidence, better coping skills, and a wonderful sense of self-love and kindness.

Frequently asked questions

I always start at a beginner's level. Students feel comfortable with the laid back and fun structure of the classes. I use music, games, and other activities to get everyone involved, regardless of skill level. All of the yoga poses are demonstrated by me first, with verbal instructions as well. Nobody is expected to do anything they aren't comfortable with.

My education and professional social work license gave me the opportunity to be practice therapy with youth of many ages. When counseling children, I attended multiple trainings on play therapy, mindfulness practice, and relaxation techniques.

A typical one-hour class with a large group/classroom averages to about $5/student.

If multiple large-sized classes are booked at once, those sessions would average $100/class.

Classes that are more therapeutic in nature, include yoga/mindfulness crafts, or are part of a series will be priced on a case-by-case basis.

After having my first child I decided to put my social work career on hold so I could stay home. After moving to Michigan, I found a part-time job that allowed me to bring my child, giving us both the opportunity to meet new people and become more involved in the community. I originally started as a child care provider in a yoga studio, then learned of a new opportunity to become certified as a children's yoga instructor. I completed my training in January 2019. I began teaching children's and family yoga classes in September 2019, after the birth of my second child.

I have taught yoga classes to children ages 18 months (with a caregiver) through age 12. These classes include children's yoga, family yoga, and story time yoga. As a therapist, I worked with children in the foster care system, ages 2-19, often with a background of significant trauma.

I recently taught a yoga class to a Girl Scout troop of girls ages 10-12. The topic was self-love. It was so great to see the girls work together to learn partner poses and group poses. They also had a chance to reflect on and share things they love about themselves. I love helping children see and feel their worth.
