Kumo's Urban Close Quarter Combat
About
I teach both traditional martial art, self defense, seminars, and awareness groups. My lessons are a nonsense approach to everyday encounters. They are easy to learn and apply to everyday life. Like most classes i teach hands on application as it was taught to me. At the end of my lessons I take what was taught and apply it as a stress test. This helps the lesson stay with the students as they try to perform under (CONTROLLED) Pressure under my instruction.
Teaching those to be able to survive an encounter is the best feeling. As we see the world is in chaos right in front of our eyes. I just want those I teach to be able to make it home to their loved ones.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first find out what their level of fitness they are at. Example: if someone comes in with a background in Martial Arts but has been out for awhile. I will see how they physically are so as to better get an idea of where to begin with them as opposed to someone who has never trained before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been in the Martial Arts since i was young. Trained in different styles under different teachers. I'm also in the Black Belt Hall of Fame for 2008. Certified in Law Enforcement Tactics which means i can teach Brazilian Jiu-Justu but without all the UFC Flare it's called Gracie Survival Tactics. I'm certified to teach PEO developed by Dennis Chaulker whose a former Founder and Memeber of SEAL Team Six the most Elite Group in the Military. I'm a Fourth Degree Black Belt in Ninjutsu which is the Art of the Shadow Warrior/Assassin known throughout Japan. Not like they are in movies so no flash and glam from me. I not only just teach hand to hand techniques but also teach a wide variety of weapons like Staff, Chucks, Sai's, Throwing Stars,Katana Sword and the list goes on. I also offer Woodland Survial Skills as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Single lessons all the way up to Group lessons. So obviously single rate is higher than group rate. I make my lessons at least 1 hour in length. Anything longer then people begin to lose interest. Lessons are tuned depending on how the individual or groups are. Example be like some one who is a novice all the way to someone who has been in martial arts for awhile.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started when I reached my brown belt. I was always at the dojo basicly 24/7. I just trained with other instructors and learned all about how to teach and make each lesson interesting and easy to learn.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children to adults. Beginners to advanced from other styles. I worked with just about all experience levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have two thing actually. One being Inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame. That ahs always been a dream of mine since I began my Martial Arts Journey. In 2008 it came true and I was glad to have shared that experience with my Mom and Dad. The second,That would be meeting Dennis Chaulker. Having him share his knowledge and experience was just amazing for me. I have always wanted to be a Navy SEAL but I took a different path. So just getting the chance to meet and learn from him was the best thing to me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions pick the teachers brain be open minded. I know these days if you don't teach MMA or Krav Magra then lot of people won't give you the time of day, but remember there are other arts out there. People are really not all that interested in Traditional Martial Arts as they were decades ago. People will go with what is trending now that's just how it works.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should always tell the teacher what needs they have. Like if a student can't perform a technique due to an injury or physical issue then the student should address it in advance so the teacher knows how to handle it.
