As an instructor, Arthur was always very attentive and full of knowledge. He was very creative with his explanations of musical concepts and made learning fun and interactive. At both the micro and macro level Arthur was able to examine my pieces and explain how I could shape my pieces and get through my compositional roadblocks. Highly recommended!

I took Arthur's classical guitar ensemble course at Columbia University for a few semesters. This was one of my favorite courses thanks to Arthur's contagiously positive attitude, deep understanding of music theory and his endless practice and dedication to the craft of teaching guitar. Highly recommended.

Arthur is easily the best guitar teacher I've ever had (or any teacher, really). In just a short time, he was able to transform both my technique and my approach to playing pieces more thoughtfully and emotionally. He is a true guitar wizard and musical genius, and, even rarer, he is able to use these tools in teaching. I'd always be nervous entering his lessons (simply because I care what he thinks), but I'd come away every time feeling totally invigorated about guitar, music, and anything else! He will change your approach to so many aspects of your instrument and the way you play it. And he's also just a really nice and interesting dude. If you have the opportunity to study with Arthur, don't pass it up.

Be focused and enjoy the class. Don't take it as an obligation but a place to learn and be free. It will make you smarter and more attentive to details everywhere

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Is this an effective TEACHER with LOTS of EXPERIENCE UNDER HIS BELT? - or is this guy someone trying to make a buck with 3 chords he learnt not long ago? ---> Be aware from which hands you are learning from.  AND READ THE REFERENCES!!!
