Coach Andrew Guitar And Uke Lessons
About
I'm a self-taught guitarist (since age 14) and ukulele player. I specialize in lead and fingerpicking. I especially welcome ukulele players, as I'll have you able to play literally hundreds of songs within two lessons! I work primarily with adults. I'm only available in the evenings Monday through Wednedays, and on weekend days. I can give lessons via Skype/Facetime/Facebook Messenger, and small group classes are available.
Please note that I turned off the "I will travel to students" option because I'm getting out-of-state requests. I actually will travel to students but ONLY within Manhattan and to neighborhoods close to the city that are accessible by train, including LIC, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg, Hoboken and Jersey City.)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, find out what they know, if anything, and what they desire to learn, so I can determine their level and whether or not we're a fit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since 1970. Uke is relatively recent, but it's a quick transition and a far easier instrument to learn.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is open to discussion. It's more if I have to travel.
How did you get started teaching?
I realized I have a teachable skill that I'm good at, and got started!
What types of students have you worked with?
I prefer to work with committed adults. I can give group classes to students, but prefer not to work one-on-one.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I attended the NJ Uke Fest in September 2017. I learned much from several workshops with top teachers and performers, and performed myself.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who can play the kind of music you want to play. Some people can play and teach all kinds of music, and are well-grounded in music theory. Some are specialists. Are you looking to become a master? Just have fun? Or something in between? Decide what you're looking to accomplish, and find the person who can help you attain that.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want to accomplish?
How committed am I to learning this?
What concerns should I have about learning?
