About
I am a professional musician living in New York City. In 2015 I was fortunate enough to receive a generous scholarship to study at the Manhattan School of Music. Thanks to this scholarship I was able to travel here from Australia and earn my Masters Degree in Performance in May 2017. I also hold a Bachelors Degree in Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and have a great deal of experience in teaching, having taught privately for a number of years now.
I really enjoy seeing students improve. Getting a beginner to a stage where we can make music together is really fun and satisfying. While I teach a variety of instruments, my primary instrument is actually the bass. This works really well for providing accompaniment for students on their recitals and in lessons too. The whole point of having lessons is to eventually be able to get out there with other people and PLAY! Once a student has advanced enough in one-on-one lessons I can then give them some real experience in making music in a group setting. Its a really great incentive for both myself and the students that study with me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
This varies depending on the student and their personal performance goals. However, I typically spend the first lesson or two assessing the student's abilities and aptitude. At this stage I can tailor a lesson plan that fits their individual needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As I mentioned earlier I hold a Master's in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor's from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music- both very prestigious institutions in their own right. I've also got a fair bit of real world experience having done several tours of Australia, Europe and the United States. In addition to all that stuff I'm also very patient..
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Skype lessons are $50.00 per hour. Private in-home lessons are $80.00 per hour but are negotiable depending on travel time.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started because members of the audience at some of my performances approached me for lessons. Since then I haven't really looked back. Teaching someone who is genuinely interested and wants to improve is really fun and often very inspiring for me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've been lucky enough to work with students in a very large range of age groups and experience levels. However, I consider beginner to intermediate students between the ages of 8 to 18 a speciality of mine. I have also had a lot of success with adults too though.
