Learn By Playing
About
The curriculum is interest based, following the students curiosity, together we figure out what to learn. I Bring my 20 years of experience and knowledge of what is essential to being a proficient guitarist, and I will suggest what to learn at first, but I let the students pick the songs, and what it is they really want to focus on. My Primary interest is supporting each student however they want to progress, all the while offering my expert advice and guiding them to play with proper technique.
Although having in person lessons is very important and helps dissolve the learning curve, I teach my students how to use the internet to teach themselves. True learning happens when one teaches themselves, it is my goal to teach what one needs to know so that they may learn without my instruction. There is a lot of knowledge to accumulate in learning guitar, and many resources out there to draw from. While much of the good work in learning an instrument happens outside of the lesson time, Students can always text me with any questions they have, and we can set up a time to video chat and go over the material; if need be.
I enjoy sharing the skill of playing music with others. One thing that feels better than playing itself, is showing others that they can play too. Many people feel like they can’t play at first, but actually they have the knowledge in them already, they have fingers, they have the strength, they just need someone to help them bring it out into reality. I love encouraging people along the path of learning an instrument, and reminding them how easy it is to play and write songs.
