Above The Notes

Above The Notes is a music and collaborative arts school in New York, NY, located in Midtown East at 344 E 59th St, 2F. The studio provides private and group instruction for children, teens, and adults at all skill levels. Founded and led by Nuné Arsenyan, an award-winning pianist and Creative Director with a conservatory master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy, the school has taught piano to more than 150 children from around the world.

Programs cover piano, guitar, voice, violin, and drums, along with music theory and musicianship, composition and improvisation, music technology, and collaborative arts ensembles. Students can prepare for NYSSMA and ABRSM exams, receive tutoring, and participate in competitions. Beyond instruction, Above The Notes offers summer music camps and special events, hosts birthday parties, and rents rehearsal and performance space. The school supports both recreational learners and those pursuing formal assessments, focusing on clear goals and measurable progress.
