About
I have trained beginner and intermediate boxing for over 10 years with the PA Greater Susquehanna YMCA and serving 300+ plus students of all ages and abilities, including boxing for Parkinson's patients. We cover all fundamentals from stances, balance, breathing, conditioning, to defences, offenses, footwork, and striking combonations. We also cover heavy bag, speed bag, double end bag, punch mit chunking, and rope training. You can also find Dawghouse Boxing on Google or email us at [email protected] or Facebook at jjreyesdawghouse.
I love seeing my student's confidence grow as they practice, practice, practice. I also love seeing couples train together learning how - if done right - boxing can be a great co-ed workout burning plenty of calories and maintaining good heart health. But, my greatest joy is watching my students with Parkinson's gradually increase in mobility, flexibility, and most of all regain an active lifestle.

How did you get started teaching?
When I would train on my own, folks would come up to me, ask me questions, and we'd just informally pair up. I took on about 5 Amateur prospectives and then began working with Boxing and Striking clubs in PA. My favorite place and space at the Sunbury YMCA. Always great people at the Y.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. Parkinson's patients as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a trainer who stresses safety first and attention to detail as you progress.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you're honest goals truly are about boxing. Is it to learn how to protect yourself? To focus on the fitness aspect? Or, are you looking to compete on a higher level?
