About
Hello! Thanks for reading this.
So I’ve been teaching private piano and guitar lessons to children and adults for 15 years now, and I've been coaching young actors for professional and school auditions for the last few years. A professional actor and musician myself, I’m energetic and generally very positive, but can give some tough encouragement if necessary.
I’m a lifelong New Yorker and I come from a family of professional musicians and music teachers, so musical concepts are pretty much second nature to me, but I also pride myself on my ability to communicate musical concepts in an effective and easy-to-understand way.
I’ve taught lots of absolute beginners, people who have been playing for a few years and want to switch things up, and (some of my favorites:) adults who played as kids and want to pick things back up again. Whatever your level, don’t be nervous! I get it. We’ll figure out what your goals are, and work to achieve them.
Classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, folk, or almost anything else— happy to dive in.
On the acting coach front, this is my new favorite thing! I've found that my years of acting training, acting professionally on Broadway and off, and in TV and Film, mixed with working with kids for the better part of two decades, has set me up well to coach young people to audition better, understand a scene, analyze a monologue, connect to their physicality and voice, find their motivation, all the things that make for effective and engaging performances.
Thanks for reading this far! I'm happy to answer any and all other questions. Just shoot me an email.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It's important to just get on the same page. I'll ask about your musical background, your goals, and any particular things about you that you might want me to know about the way you might like to work. I'll tell you anything about myself that you want to know as well! It's generally pretty low-key, casual, but very focused.
So much of what we do will be focused on teaching you how to teach yourself. Practicing outside of lessons is essential, and we can work out a basic practicing plan based on your current schedule.
