Blackbird Music
About
With a background teaching kids and adults for over ten years, Iβve been able to coach musicians of all calibers how to take their skills to the next level and beyond.
It doesn't matter if you are just beginning or are working on getting ready for the studio, having worked with all ages and skill levels, I show my students the fundamentals and skills they strive to achieve all while working with their schedule and towards the music they want to play!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typical? There is nothing typical about what we do!
New students are great! We get to identify short and long-term goals, current skills/abilities, the music you'd like to listen to or want to learn, and ALL the bad habits you may have picked up from the Internet!
Each lesson is then custom-fit just for you!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the last 21 years I've studied music. Theory, Classical, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Neo-Soul, Folk, Metal - if you can name the style I've without a doubt worked with or performed that kind of music.
Music technology is also a very important part of the skill sets employers are looking for today. You can dive into this world as well, and we can cover everything from a broad overview of what's being used to deeper dives on how to leverage the these available technologies for your show design.
Here's a short list, so just send me a message if you are looking for something specific!
- ProTools
- Ableton
- Logic Pro
- Studio/Touring Equipment
- Effects Chains
- Mixing Consols
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Everyone's needs are different - so let's chat about them first!
How did you get started teaching?
Being the oldest of four siblings, teaching or showing others how to do something has been a part of my life since '89!
My first students were my friends, family, bandmates, schoolmates. From there, after a brief stint in Community Banking, I went full-time on teaching and educating young musicians mainly to help afford my tuition for higher education. From there it has evolved into much more and I couldn't be happier that I get to share my knowledge with the next generation of aspiring musicians!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all all types of students, from ages 4-64!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Hanging out backstage with SSPU/Eliza & The Delusionals!
