SVK Guitar Lessons
About
I not only work to teach the basics and fundamentals of music and guitar playing, but also try to do so in a way that is fun and engaging for the student and caters to the needs, interests and skill level of the individual student. I like to make sure that my students have been challenged in learning new things but also have been able to do so in a way that is exciting, fun and is tailored towards their musical interests.
I love being able to take musical ideas (songs, riffs, melodies, etc.) that have inspired me as a player and pass them off to students with the hopes that those same pieces of music will inspire them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process for working with a new student is to evaluate the student's interests and needs as a student. I work with the student to find out what their experience level is, what skill level they are at and what it is they are looking to accomplish from taking lessons, as well as what their interests are as a student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing for nearly 30 years. I have played professionally in a variety of settings and have covered many genres including pop, rock, soul, R&B, funk, country, jazz, gospel, praise&worship and hip-hop. I have 12 years of teaching experience and have taught students ages 6 all the way to adult.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing for lessons is $40 per hour ($20/half hour) in home lessons.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching shortly after college through a fellow band mate who was the head guitar instructor at a local music academy outside of Nashville, TN.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages (6 years to adult) and skill levels ranging from beginner to semi-professional.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Last summer, my band Reverend's Daughter played the Aransas Pass Shrimporee Festival in south Texas where we opened for the legendary Nashville guitarist Steve Wariner.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for an instructor who not only has the appropriate credentials but also has the willingness and ability to cater to your needs, interests and skill level as a student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A student should ask themselves how and why they became interested in their area of study and what is it that they are looking to accomplish through taking private instruction on their instrument.
