About

Having enjoyed a 15-year composite NBA and international basketball career, being connected to the next generation of athletes is a perfect match as I passionately provide unique perspectives to athletes of both genders, all ages (2 years old and up), and skill levels!

ADAPT Sports & Fitness LLC was founded to offer a multi-skilled build up of clients' evident and/or uncultivated talents. We off unique perspectives to clients within the scope of detail-oriented training, film analysis, and much more.

We offer a trifecta of services being in-person and mobile training (Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area) as well as virtual lessons.

Personally, I offer niche expertise as a multi-skilled player development coach (providing light sports performance), data (analytics, player evaluation), and prescribed regimens to help any athlete at any level improve their skills.

    Frequently asked questions

The first lesson is very crucial so it is half-evaluation, half-training (half-price). It's important to assess the skill set of each athlete and to hear the voice of the client for the sake of accountability, to hear what he/she desires to work on along with what they feel their strengths are.

Besides having 17 years of composite collegiate and professional basketball playing experience (mentorship roles on teams and training since 2019), I have enrolled in a strength and conditioning certification course (NASM).

My goal is to become technically educated to further improve athlete's abilities via progressing along with assessing and correcting movements, muscular imbalances, and the like, to give what I have received since collegiate playing days - high-level sports performance to have an edge over the competition.

Our policy is that we do not offer discounted lessons besides promotions or trial lessons at our discretion.

There is a saying that goes, "You get what you pay for," but we like to take it further in saying you also get what you DON'T pay for.

The benefits of training with ADAPT is that we value-add, as in offering clients extra 15 minutes of guided training or shooting (when available)* along with film analysis* and hands-on, interactive training (playing offense and defense with clients) to help accelerate their improvement while challenging them at times to build up mental toughness and intangibles. Sports performance is also important to keep transferable athletic skill sets in tact whether athletes (desire/are able to) play multiple positions or multiple sports (encouraged).

Knowing that retirement is inevitable, I wanted to get a head start with training clients. After my 12th season I started training in the Charlotte area - inside a state-of-the art, sports-tech facility.

Now relocating to Dallas, my desire is to eventually offer the same facility, environment, and experience as athletes in particular, "adapt" with this world, moving into the virtual and mixed-reality spaces for more engaged training and data retrieval (i.e., basketball shot and movement analytics) for perpetual development.

We work with athletes who range from age 2 up to professional athletes. No stage is insignificant and the earlier stage of an athlete, the better, to lay down a solid foundation before bad habits form and may frustrate athletes who are more cognizant of their goals they may want to reach.

Myself and staff have provided VertiMax training along with hand-eye coordination and speed development to non-basketball players and 2-sport athletes which was mutually rewarding, seeing their coordination and explosiveness develop.

In my most recent season (2021-2022), my team made it to the finals in Taiwan. Being a mentor and leader was very dearing as I saw younger players on our team feel empowered and confident as we would come together to do non-mandatory skill work throughout the season.

It is important to be get repetition of skills (strengths and weaknesses) on one's own time. I would prescribe additional workouts for value-add so they have guided plans and helps us assess, correct, and progress smoother and sooner.

A trainer can not be with a client all the time so a coient has to be willing to put in extra work in and trust the process.

The question I'd pose to clients and parents alike is, is it worth comparing an athlete's current position with peers? It's a slow and steady grind to the top - they keep their head down and look up occasionally to realize progress.

In a "rank-heavy" world of sports, we understand how important a client's support system is (family, friends, etc.). There is no such thing as overnight success and social media only gives this impression as people post highlights only. For the sake of stable mental health, a better practice is giving space for the athlete to breathe, reflect, and perhaps carefully helping them revamp their own goals as much as possible to be realistic and content.

It's important that parents in particular, show support at times, through observation and not burdensome vicarious hopes of success for their child.

This is VERY crucial so the client feels comfortable getting an outside, unbiased opinion that may be discussed internally (why pay an expert if the parent is one already!).

Notwithstanding, we encourage communication with parents so that we hopefully can equip athletes with "one voice" that helps them grow through trials and triumphs, gaining unique life skills rarely experienced/acquired outside of sports environments.
