My teaching approach: My name is Derek Neece. I teach Private Guitar lessons in my home studio which resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I have been playing 25 years and professionally for 15 years. I have had the experience of playing in bands ranging in styles from Rock, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Top 40 and Country . I have had the fortunate opportunity to work in top professional music studios and with award winning producers including Sterling Winfield of Pantera fame and Mitch Marine from Smash Mouth and Dwight Yokum. I have had my music played on 97.1 KEGL and 102.1 the EDGE. As of more recent, I was featured in Guitar Player magazine. My influences are: Hendrix, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Albert Collins, BB King, Otis Rush, Frddie King, Albert King, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Joe Bonamassa, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, ect. Guitar Techniques: Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection, Jamming Skills, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I assess the new students learning style and current ability. We devise a plan on how to achieve their personal desires and goals. This may be revised every 6-8 weeks as the student progresses. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: It entirely depends on the individual and their current abilities. A typical lesson might entail intense discussion on music theory, songwriting, learning a desired song, studio recording, playing with backing tracks or a even blues jam with other students. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Beginner: Passionate, driven, hungry and ambitious. Intermediate: Inquisitive, open to try new approaches and techniques. Desires to acquire the proper technique and make it musical. Advanced: Ability to learn musical theory, the modal system and fretboard logic.
