About

I have been teaching yoga for 3 years, and I have been a student of yoga for 10 years. I specialize in beginner yoga, but I work with all levels. I also teach children, large groups, and overall wellness workshops. Anyone can benefit from a yoga practice, no matter who you are. Urban Zen Yoga will help you become more comfortable with yourself and healthier in body and Mind.

I am passionate about the difference a yoga practice can create in anyone's life. Ten years ago, yoga changed my life by helping me to overcome depression and obesity. It was then that I decided I wanted to help other people draw peace and well being into their life's by taking a little time for themselves with yoga. I seek to inspire others around me by spreading yoga and meditation in any way that I can.

Frequently asked questions

I always start with a conversation of what the students goals are, if there are specific things that led them to pursue a yoga practice. I just t try to learn as much about the student as I can, do that they get as much from their practice as possible.

I am 200 hr certified and trained specifically in meditation, hatha yoga, yin yoga, & power yoga. I consistently train so that I am constantly learning and staying current with yoga research and teaching techniques.

Standard pricing starts at $70 a lesson for up to two people within a 10 mile radius from my residence. Rates increase depending on distance and amount of students per lesson.

I began practicing yoga in 2007 when I found out I was prediabetic at age 26. I was 245 pounds and wanted a way to get healthier. 6 years of practice and 100 pounds later, yoga helped me love and care about myself. That's when  I realized that I could help others discover what yoga could do for them by sharing my love for this practice. I received my certification in early 2015 from the Yoga Institute in Houston Texas.

I have had the privilege of working with all levels of yoga practitioners. Athletes, gymnasts, running groups, etc.

I have also worked with hospital facilities, rehabilitation, and mental health development programs.

I currently manage a yoga studio, and on numerous occasions, clients have shared how a yoga practice had helped them personally. Some have said they feel better in their bodies, that it helps them to be more calm, even with health issues. Nothing makes me happier than to hear that people are finding the benefits of a yoga practice.

I would say to keep an open mind and know that you are capable of anything, despite any current doubts. I am always here to help anyone who wants to learn.

Consider why you want to begin. Allow this to be your first focus. Ask yourself why and what you want to gain. Yoga is more than a physical practice, it can be spiritual and mentally enlightening as well. Identify any ailments that you have so the instructor can give you any modifications you might need.
