Frequently asked questions

I try to give my students/clients what they want, and need. Therefore, I mold my sessions to fit their level, health and wellness goals, and lifestyle, along with personal preferences. I want my students to enjoy the sessions, as well as feel great once they leave.

On the yoga therapy side, I require a 90-minute intake session. After that initial intake, I prepare a very thorough longer-term action plan for them.

For any of my clients, I try to periodically check-in, readjust, and re-tune where we're headed.

As a teenager, Deborah recognized the value of deep breathing, deep stretching, along with herbal tea to bring about a more positive and peaceful state of mind. Fast forward 40 years. Deborah has reduced her blood sugar level and nearly eradicated decades of chronic GI and lower back pain. Now, her drugs of choice are hatha, bhakti, breath work and meditation.

She is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), and highly experienced instructor (E-RYT 200/RYT 500). Deborah studied Ayurvedic massage therapy, nutrition and cooking, and treatment plans at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in India. She earned certifications in Acupressure and Reiki in Mexico and San Antonio, Texas. Despite her formal training, she doesn’t stop learning. In fact, she routinely attends conferences and workshops with some of the best yogis, Ayurvedic experts and Yoga Therapists in the Americas.

Most importantly, she has been a yoga practitioner most her life.  From the Windy City to Ecuador and India, she has immersed herself in the full meaning and practice of yoga, and yoga therapy. Now, she shares her learnings with her students, in English and Spanish.

Deborah teaches, because she wants to share the secrets to well being that she learned, and follows. Finally, passionate about wellbeing, she contributes to many media outlets. Among them: bald yogi, wanderlust, yogagonymousmysa.com, chron.com. And, she publishes her own yoga blogs.

The Namaste Counsel is committed to improving others’ well being. For kids, this San Antonio yoga instructor/yoga therapist volunteered at a children’s shelter in Mexico, and at three Texas VegFests.  Plus, she has led free Spanish-language classes for women and children in Mexico and Central America, as well as cancer survivors in Dallas.
