Ian Mack: Guitar And Music Theory Instructor

Growing up in Chicago, I was surrounded by many different musical genres and styles. Before taking up guitar, I studied classical piano and jazz saxophone, learning the virtues of a daily practice regimen from an early age. From my experience playing in rock bands in high school to playing and studying jazz and classical music at the University of Vermont, I draw from many different perspectives and traditions in his current work as well as his teaching.

Currently, I record and play live with pop artist Francesca Blanchard and country outfit Wild Leek River, as well as other acts in Vermont and beyond.

In addition to his professional playing experience, Ian draws inspiration from his lifetime of experience studying with Jason Patera, Jeff Jaskowiak, Joe Capps, and Rodney “The Ruckus” Roques. It is his hope that he is able to pass on the invaluable lessons learned from these world-class educators and musicians.

I love teaching guitar because it's brought me so much joy, and I want to share that with as many other people as possible!

I also always end up learning about a ton of new music from my students, lots of stuff that I never would have found otherwise.

Above all, it's just fun to hang out, talk about music, and help people achieve their goals on their instrument.
