I first discovered yoga in 2002 as a college student at UCSD where she earned a degree in Psychology. What began as "just another workout" slowly unfolded into a journey of personal growth that challenged some of my deepest held beliefs. Yoga became a way of life.
I began developing a deep knowledge of body and breath a young age. A lifelong athlete, I've been a competitive swimmer, ballroom dancer, and martial artist. Athletics became a way for me to withdraw from the senses and enter a space of moving meditation.
This experience has set a strong foundation for my teaching style in yoga. Whether you are a former athlete or just starting a fitness routine, my classes will both challenge you and help you achieve relaxation.
I love the way yoga makes me feel, and I love helping other people achieve that same feeling. In today's results-based, high stimulus world, I invite you to withdraw from our senses, tune in to your body, and listen to its messages without judgement. My wish for my students is to experience that transcendent space that exists when we simply let go and combine body, breath, and movement.
I am RYT200 certified through the Joy of Yoga school and am currently enrolled in the 500hr program with Jennifer Prugh. When I'm teaching yoga, I work in HR and Product Development for an artisanal food company based in Morgan Hill, California.
What's not to like? Carmen is like Yoga incarnate. She exudes positivity and peacefulness. She motivates you and has helped me advance in my practice but also encourages you to listen to your body and take things at your own pace, suggesting modifications when needed. Her classes are balanced, challenging, varied and flow well. I feel like I'm getting both a yoga class and a therapy session in one awesome hour!
Carmen. Wow she's awesome 👍 I am a novice yogi in the course of time practicing for the past 16 months, although I have been practicing TM FOR HALF A CENTURY Woops did I just date myself 😄 The point is Carmen peacefully and serenely talks you through your practice in a wonderful manner explaining the stetch and breathing so you may better understand the benifits your mind and body are receiving during the brief 60 minutes. Sleep has improved dramatically weight is stable my balance and strength are tremendously improved and the chronic pain in my lower back and hip has stabilized and subsided to the point I can easily do the things I enjoy most in life, picking up and playing with my grandsons effortlessly so we might all enjoy these precious moments together instead of saying sorry Poppas back is hurting today and we can't play 😩 I would encourage any first time explorers who are on the sidelines but unsure of taking that first step to a better fuller healthier lifestyle to join Carmen for a few sessions and discover that inner child where you jumped like a deer ran like the wind and laughed uncontrollably until your tummy ached relishing the precious moments of being alive. Today is the day to start your best life. NAMASTE
Yoga is personal. EveryBODY is different, and I tailor my classes to each student's personal needs and goals.
Students complete a brief Health & History questionnaire prior to their first class. We'll review this together during our first session, discuss your intentions and goals, and practice some breathwork, postures, and meditation.
